Re: VIN Code
Typically the first character defines the make, the second the price class, the third and fourth the body style, the fifth the engine, the sixth the year and the seventh the assembly plant. On the passenger cars, the first and second are letters, the third and fourth are numbers, the fifth a letter, the sixth a number and the seventh a letter.
Are you sure you didn't transpose any letters and numbers? Your VIN as written doesn't look quite right to me. The letter F may very well stand for a Dodge.

Re: VIN Code
Maybe Fargo? It's also on Factory ID Plate riveted to door jam.
Found out yesterday from an old Dodge mechanic that the F stood for incomplete. Sold to Motor home plants and such. Cab and chassis only--not van box attached on one ton models. Last edited by ELCBOSS; 02-08-2009 at 09:11 AM. |
