Question on 1996 Accent

Im going to look at this car in a few days and it has 161,000 is that a lot of miles for a 96 accent? how many more miles can i expect to get out of this car before it needs major work (ie: transmission/Engine rebuild)

The transmission on this car last long time, it can last you 60000 more miles. The long as you drive all time in D with the overdrive. And you change the fluid each 2 years.

The engine can last you 45000 more miles before need to rebuilt.

For sure, you will get small problems before that.

As far as how much longer it's going to last is anybodys guess. It's up to how well it was taken care of, and how hard you drive it. It could blow up tomorrow, or it could last years. If it's cheap enough, then it could be really good. I have a long history of $500 cars that lasted years.

now days a car is just broke in at 100.000 mls but if it was taken care of then the mls shouldn't hurt it they can go 300.000 but like i say depends on how it was drove and taken care of? you could pull a plug out and see if it's crusty if it is more than likley it burns oil...good luck...
