Front passenger speaker not working
I have a 99 Jeep Cherokee sport whos front passenger side door speakers are not getting power to them. We removed the door panel and speaker and the door is just metal and wires right now. I was just wondering if anyone could advise me on what i need to do to either get power to the wires or rewire the wires.

Re: Front passenger speaker not working
do you have a voltmeter, or multimeter?
If you do, then turn your radio on, make sure that the fade and balance are set so that all the speakers should be playing music, and then measure the terminals to the speaker (you might have to remove the speaker to get at the terminals). you'll want to see if there is any voltage going into your speakers. start tracing from there. if no voltage is going to the speakers, then the problem is in the wiring. If voltage is going to the speakers, then check the Resistance of the speakers. not sure exactly, but it shoudl be something like 300 ohms. |

Re: Front passenger speaker not working
Quote:
i would take the radio out or try and get the speaker wire that is coming out from the radio and hook up a speaker to it just to see if you are getting sound this is a common issue with the xj what i did for my rig was just get new speaker wire and run it on top of the wire bundle, i used tie downs to hold it in place, plus i was able to use a better gauge wire than what the factory has
