cant pull codes on 92 sho
Ihave a 92 sho it runs has new crank censor and it every now and then it drop a clyinder try pulling code will not com with actron scaner try jumping terrminal no cel flashes help

There was a guy a while back that had a somewhat similar problem, although I think his wouldn't run. But, he found there was a melted wire within the EEC connector. He bought a pigtail from a salvage yard, spliced it in and all has been well since, at least I don't recall seeing a follow-up that he's having problems. You might want to inspect the connector and wiring.

shorod the owner of the car was trying to pull code by shorting terrminals and mabe fried some thing could it need an ecm im working on this car and like i say it gets warm and every now and then drop cly and dont want to throw money at it i think it could be a coil pack or icm but i can pull code with scannerif it was working

The '92 doesn't have such a great misfire monitor, I don't recall any codes specifically for individual cylinder misfires, however coil primary codes are reported. You could also run the cylinder balance test to see if there's an apparent misfire on a particular cylinder, but as you know, this requires you to be able to access the data link connector.
Take a close look into the diagnostic connector and STI pigtail and see if you can tell whether or not the terminals in the connectors is in good shape or maybe stretched out and not making a good connection with the scan tool. -Rod |

Well i finaly had the person replace the pcm and we have communication now we can find the other problem replaced crank sensor and when car get warm it drops cyl any ideas were still working on this car

Have you pulled the plugs? The V6 SHO had issues with spark plug well seals leaking, causing a misfire. Also, if you have aftermarket plug wires on the car, there were some that had incorrect boots which did not seal well against the valve cover. This allowed water and moisture into the plug wells which also could cause misfires.
Do you know which cylinder is misfiring? Is it consistent? Are you sure it's a misfire? You could try putting a spark tester in series with the misfiring cylinder to determine if it's an injector issue or an ignition issue. So you did replace the CKP sensor? -Rod |
