problems with alarm shortage?

I have a 93 3.0Lx that is in really good condition, I have been getting things repaired when needed, kind of a bit of money to keep the thing running but I like it. I cant remember when this problem started but sometimes when I try to start the car the alarm starts flashing and going crazy but no horn sounds and the car wont start. I have been able to lock the doors and then unlock the doors to disarm the alarm and then turn on the engine after a couple of tries. I was told that it takes a couple of tries to turn in on because of a safety feature. But today i went out to try and turn it on and the same thing happened with the alarm but now it wont even crank it just makes the alarm freak out, has anyone heard of anything similar to this or maybe know what could be wrong?
