'97 Jetta Trek Oil Light Issues

i have a 1997 Jetta Trek with about 145000 miles on it. The oil light comes on randomly and keeps beeping even if a have enough oil. i check it often, and will still come on randomly. Any idea why? what can be done.? all help appreciated.

Replace your oil pressure sending unit. $20 part from VW.
