1/12 scale `69 Camaro Z/28 - ummm.....lost count on how many...
I decided to post this since the weather here in the northeast will apparently never cooperate with me for taking pictures. I have to apologize for the quality of the pictures. I totally did not capture this one well at all. I will post another thread once I get some good ones.
Anyway, 1/12 Monogram `69 Camaro yada, yada.... Some of you "old timers" may remember I did one very similar to this back 5 or 6 years ago. This is actually the same chassis and interior from that model, just updated and (much) more detailed. The body of the old one probably will end up in the parts bin. So I took the same approach on this one that I did with the green one, using hundreds of photos for reference, mainly from Ebay (great photo source) auctions of the real deal. The inspection sticker, window sticker, and license plate are once again period correct, taken from the real items. Chassis markings and labeling throughout as best I could from the photos. Guitar string was used for the brake lines. Heater hoses and spark plug wires have simulated "text". As far the interior, painted on simulated wood trim, door locks added using wire, and of course carpeting. The white stripes were painted on the body with the kits decals used for the outer stripes. This is a royal PAIN to do. All duplicolor laquers used on the body, and about 8 -10 coats of clear this time. Again, I apologize for the pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Awesome as usual, if it weren't for the gigantic tire in the background of one of the images you'd never know it wasn't a real car.

Some of the pics that don't have nothing in the back ground look really realistic. Great model.

It looks like the real car to me! I don't think you need to apologize for the pictures, they are great! Superb model, painting and finish!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Rubbing, rubbing, and more rubbing. I thought my arm was going to fall off at some points. I must be a sucker for punishment to try black on this large model. Seriously though, I use lots of laquer, about 5-10 coats each of color and clear, and use three different grades of compound starting with very aggressive and finishing with very fine. |
