99 idle speed.

Just wondering what the idle speed should be at on a 99 safari , also what the throttle position should be at that speed. Is this something that should be set at all ??

Re: 99 idle speed.

All I could get was for the 2001 4.3 L, 600 rpm on MT and 625 rpm on AT transmissions.

Hope this helps.

Throttle position sensors can be cranky if moved. They are best left alone if origonal.

I should have been more clear , I have a computer program that shows the absolute throttle position in realtime. Thanks for the rpm info.

Re: 99 idle speed.

I would say throttle position should be 0%- That;s the way my Tech I always worked on my '94 - the idle air control pintle is what controls the idle- plus I don't think there really is such thing as idle speed- it is whatever the PCM is comanding under any set of given conditions. Heck during engine flare routines- idle can be 1100 for a little while- but to guess- usually 700 -750 is the norm..
