Cv Joint Boots

I have a 1989 k1500 with a 305, 4WD automatice tranny. I noticed that my inner boots on the cv half shafts are both damaged, grease is being thrown out onto the frame. The truck runs great and I am thinking of just replacing and re-packing the boots. Has anyone done this? does it require any special tools? It doesn't look like to tough a job, but any advise would be greatly appreciated.

It can be done.
You will need a special pair of pliers for the boot bands.
Also they need cleaned and inspected good.
If dirt has got in there or any wear in it would just go for a rebuilt shaft.

Buy a rebuilt shaft the old boots are junk new ones come with actual rubber boots the old ones were of some poly material.takes about 1 hour to do the job. remove your stabilizer link and presto you dont even need to pull the wheel.
