tranny

so i was at dietz automotive a few days ago, which is a honda/acura specific shop here in boise, idaho, and at the shop they had a very interesting car. it was a 89 teg GS 2 door with a lsvtec motor. i was inquiring about it and he told me that the tranny itself is rare, geared very low, and would be quite good for autocross (my area of interest) and that it cost him a grand. i can't remember the code for the tranny right now, and that is what i am trying to figure out. i recall it having a S in the code. very low gearing, fits a ls block. anyone got any idea?

btw he only wants 4500 for the car. the motor is supreme, (he claims that 10,000 has been put into the motor, but i didn't investigate that any further.) the body is in fair to poor shape, it has 17s, lowered on some generic springs.

my b-16 tranny is an S1. if he said its perfect for autocross, then he might have took out the ls tranny and put in a b-16 due to the short gears. if he was smart he would have took the 5th gear out of the ls put in the b-16 cause b16 5th gear sucks. but if hes autocrossing he doesnt really need a 5th. thats why im assuming its a b-16 tranny. maybe S1??

If the car has cheap springs on it i doubt it has $10,000 into anything. I think your getting fed a line of BS. Most people if anything that are going to make a car for autocross, build up the suspension with good name brand things. Any tranny is good for autocross as long as it goes forward.
