vr6 vs. celica gts 00'

my friend is always trippin and tellin me that a jetta vr6 can beat a celica gts...i dont think so but i dunno i dont really know taht much bout jettas .....wut do u guys think?

yea i did....there were 3 people in the gts 2 in the mustang and 2 more in the supra i believe behind us that were with the mustang, we stoped and talked to him and he said he ran 14's high 14's probably none the less 14's you can go read the story in the streetracing forum in the honda/acura section

civicHBsi91 is not a ricer he is a very good driver so I can see him beating a 14sec mustang. Also just cause its a 14sec stang dosnt mean he ran a 14 that time

im sure it was high 14's and sure it migh have not been 14's that time but im sure i could kick that thing into the 14's at the track i doubt we raced a full 1/4 mile but i was pulling on him hard in 3rd then i shut it down he said he ran 14's.....its just to give an estimate on how fast it was, and i am deff not a ricer

Ok, the only stock Mustangs that run 14's are GT's. Road & Track ran a test in the 11/01 issue with both a Celica GT-S, Mustang GT, and a Golf GTI (Jetta with 2 doors and a hatchback). The Celica ran 15.7, the Mustang 14.7, and the GTI ran 15.6. The GTI was equipped with the leather and sunroof packages and the "old" VR6 2-valve rated at 174hp and the rubbery 5-speed. The GLI has 201hp, a 6-speed, and "posi". My particular car run's consistent 14.8's, a little strong from what I've read but not out of the ballpark (most run 15-flat). This is bone stock, half-tank of gas, and my car is a "stripper" without the leather or sunroof. Are those options worth .2 seconds in the 1/4 mile? Unlikely, but it is what it is. Either way, a properly-driven Jetta GLI will smoke a properly-driven GT-S, both being stock (sorry, "un-modded without the NOSS" in ricerese). Case closed...
