1998 CR-V Tranny Glitches

I have a 1998 CR-V automatic with AWD. 125K-miles.

At times, the transmission will over-rev when changing gears between second and third....hot or cold. Yes....the tranny fluid is level. Is this a common problem, and what can I do to help or fix the issue?

Also....

At times (again), the tranny will not shift into 4th gear-overdrive. Normally, I drive for 10 minutes and the truck gets warm, then the overdrive engages at cruising speeds. 4th gear is as high as it will normally shift....and if it feels like it....overdrive will work a few times a week.

Any help / opinions would be appreciated! Thanks!!

Have you ever had your transmission serviced?

Unfortunately this sounds like something you should take to the Dealer to see if they can pull any tranny codes.

The only Service Bulletin I found was on "Harsh Shifting" or " No Shifting from 1 st" concerning the Linear Solenoid Assy.

Re: 1998 CR-V Tranny Glitches

I haven't done anything to the ATX besides having the tranny-oil changed about 4 years ago....shortly before a 3000-mile road trip. Also....there are no codes to pull....already tried that. Any other suggestions???

For whatever reason, the tranny is shifting properly now. I reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes. I guess if I had it serviced to see what happens, I woulda been out a bunch of cash.

If you have never had it serviced you will be out a bunch of cash at some point in the future.
