Exclamation speed..

okay, so im about to move back to vegas from the philippines,

okay i love speed, i use to race motors etc, and now its time for my first car
(tho i am superb at driving) seeing as my friends make me the driver when they drag race.

yet im superly ashamed to say, I HAVE NO CLUE about engines. at all..

so the thing is.. its time for my first car, i got about 8k for 1,
i seriously dont care about the year,
ive been lookin on ebay and everything, i just dont want it older than a 94 or something. unless it looks good and is a beast
i still want it to have style,

so what i want to know is, for around 8grand, what 2nd hand car could i buy which stock has power, and that i could make faster.

see i dont want to have to do this the hard way, and spend alot of money that i dont have, and i dont want to spend the same amount as the guy in the same parking lot but mine getting smoked.

SO you may think its that i want to be a street racer, but thats not it. i just love speed, i love racing, the feeling.. its exctatic for me.

so if u were lazy to read that this is my question:

FOR AROUND $8,000 what car should i buy that is fast, and that could become really fast with aftermarket parts. speed is the issue

thank you so much and i hope to hear back soon before i make a mistake and buy a goodlukn slow car,

if so could u also list the aftermarket parts i should buy after buying the car, to make it faster,

(ide love to go with acceleration first over top speed) but anything floats my boat

Re: speed..

The best modern project cars for drag racing are the '89-'93 Mustang 5.0 and '94-'97 Camaro Z28/Pontiac Trans Am.

Re: speed..

GS-R - not a fast car, will require $5000+ in upgrades to get it as fast as a stock trans am.
MR2 - more of a handling car. A good car if that's all you're looking for.
M3 - you're probably not going to find a good one in your price range
Eclipse - the GS and RS are VERY slow cars, slower than most minivans. The GST and GSX are faster, but tend to be unreliable, especially when modified, and still aren't as quick as a stock trans am. Despite its sports car looks, the Eclipse also isn't a terribly good handling car either.
