99 V6 Alero: Mystery Hose
So my Alero has been leaking radiator fluid. The hose coming from the top of the reservoir is cut in half right around the belt that I'm also replacing. Problem is, I don't know where this hose plugs into. Hopefuly somewhere I can reach.
Also, as I've been reading on changing the serpentine, I'm on my way to the store to get a floor jack to support the engine in order to do that. Big fun. That's how I discovered this hose cut in half. Anyhow, can anyone explain to me where this hose is supposed to plug in? It's a skinny hose, the top-most hose closest to the back of the reservoir. Thanks! |

Alsom, the hose originates in the screw-in part for the cap of the surge tank.

Re: 99 V6 Alero: Mystery Hose
The hose closest to the firewall is just the over flow hose and it connects to nothing. It just dangles there.
The two other smaller hoses at the top center of the reservoir go to the radiator and to the thermostat housing.

Problem #2: I just got back with a floor jack, lift up the engine, one bolt still won't come off to replace serpentine belt, I broke a socket wrench yesterday trying to get it off, thought it would be easier with engine weight supported, no dice. Looks like I'm getting it towed from my house to the garage if I can't get that bolt off. I can't even get the two little nuts off. I've been reading this forum and it sounds easy as pie, but not practically, not when the bolts seem welded on. Any ideas? |

Just the top metal plate secured by the 2 large nuts and 2 bolts. Then just use a 3/8" drive breaker bar on the bottom of the tensioner assembly fitting to loosen the belt. __________________ '01 Buick Regal GS - Series II 3800 V6 Supercharged '99 Buick Regal LS - Series II 3800 V6 '02 Oldsmobile Alero GL2 - 3400 SFI V6 '03 Honda CR250R MX - 2 Stroke 250cc '97 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP - Series II 3800 V6 Supercharged Timeslip 08/12/06 AF Community Rules |
