1999 cavalier manuel trans question

Hi, Have a 1999 cavalier which when put into drive sits for approx 10-20 seconds before manuel transmission engages and moves.Runs great, starts great no other issues with car. We've owned this approximately 5 years and its done this the whole time. It's worse if its cold outside but other than that hasn't changed at all- We've changed the appropriate filters and have had it checked by trans mechanics who tell us it's just the way the transmission runs but that seems far fetched any ideas? Thanks for your help-

Re: 1999 cavalier manuel trans question

I wouldn't call that normal no... But the Isuzu trans thats in your car is the bottom of the line in cavaliers/sunfires... In 2000 GM replaces those POS's with the German Getrag F23.

You might want to look into a faling Slave/TOB which is Inside the trans bell housing. The pressure plate and disc should grab as soon as you let off the clutch pedal.
