91 Convertible Issues!?
I've searched all around, but I can't seem to find an answer to my problem. One day I put my Cutlass Supreme top down. When I got home, I went to push the button, put the top wouldn't come up.
The motor made the sound it usually does, and the top would start to go up a few inches. However, then it stopped. It just wouldn't go up. I tried over several days, but nothing. My dad ended up getting it up manually. I had noticed that several weeks before, the top would come up shorter and shorter where the hooks lock into the windshield. Do you think the motor blew? If it did, how do you replace it? Or could it be something else? I would appreciate any help. Thanks. |

Re: 91 Convertible Issues!?
I would check the hydraulic fluid level. Sounds like it is low. It is located under the bag the top goes into when you have the top down.
Easiest way to check it is to remove the back seat and get to the pump. You probably need hydraulic fluid. |

+1 on checking the fluid, you can also get to the pump and reservoir through the trunk. Pull back the trunk carpet under the bag the top goes down in, you can also check the hoses for the top. I think the pump uses automatic trans. fluid for the hydraulic oil but check the manual to be sure.
