2003 Cavalier

I have a 2003 Cavalier that will not start. I live in Minnesota so its cold here now. The ignition cranks over. You can hear the fuel pump. It has spark on all the plugs and just replaced the coils thinking that was the issue. The fuel pump was replaced last year. The battery is brand new. The starter was just replaced as well. I need advice asap. Thanks.

Use a noid light and check for power to the injectors. If no power its probably the security system shutting you down.

There is fuel coming through. But I will check the power in the injectors, it might be something else. Anyone have some ideas? Please help!

Were there any symptoms prior to this, i.e. rough idle , hesitation, stalling, etc. ?
You said the plugs have spark, is it a strong,(blue/white) spark or weak,(orangish) spark ?
Have you pulled any of the plugs after trying to start it to see if they are fuel soaked ?

Just some thoughts

Just tested the spark plugs and they all spark blue. Didnt test the injectors yet. I think there may be a problem with them, it smells like there is gas coming from the area of which the plugs were removed. There is no sign of a non spark. The next thing Im going to try is testing the fuel injectors. There is also fuel spraying out of the Shroeder valve, so I am sure that the fuel filter is good. I need many many more ideas, suggestions, and solutions asap.

This is a picture of a noid light. If you don't have one use a 12volt test light and a paper clip. Stick one end of the paper clip in one side of the plug to the injector. Clamp the test light ground on it put the metal end in the other side.
Have somebody crank the car does the test light blink. If it doesn't blink check one side of the plug for power. The computer pulses the ground.
Pull all plugs use an oil can and put some oil in the cylinder. Turn the engine over install plugs. If its flooded it should start.
It should start by spraying starter fluid in the intake. If this is the case its a fuel problem.

I havent tested the injectors yet. I have a noid light. Its like -4 here in MN so time outside is limited. I did pull out the FPR and where it goes into the throttle body(I think thats what it was) seemed like them was excessive fuel. What what be a sign of a bad FPR?

I would use a gage and check fuel pressure.

Cold or not it is easier to plug in a noid light than pull a pressure regulator.

Okay after doing everything said here it does not start. New Crankshaft sensor, starter, fuel injectors and rail, FPR, and spark plugs. Took off valve cover everything is working. Camshaft, lobes, ect working. Noticed though the notches on the timing chain do match up and the chain is a little looser than normal. It seems the chain jumped and the timing misses which I am guessing is the reason the car does not start and has no compression. I heard elsewhere that with this car the timing isnt the problem. Makes no sense though with any car with the timing off has issues.

At this point I would pull the timing cover and check. If it jumped time it won't run.
Get a portable propane heater and do it in a garage.
Try some oil on the pistons and recheck compression. If flooded with gas they will loose compression.
