4L60E Trans mods 2003 GMC

Installed a TransGo shift kit and plate along with Sonnax pinless accums, Corvette servo and boost valve. Now I have a very harsh 1-2 shift at low speeds. I used the TG 3 spring pack in the 1-2 accum and piston at the top next to the plate. Is there anyone that has experienced this issue. Trans builders help would be appreciated... Thanks

Re: 4L60E Trans mods 2003 GMC

There are a couple of Transgo Kits, which one did you install? Did you install the HD2 reprogramming kit or the regular 4L60E shift kit?

Did you put any spacers in the 2nd Accumulator? What drill size did you use on the plate for the 1-2 shift?

Re: 4L60E Trans mods 2003 GMC

I used the SK 4L60E-L kit and used 1 gold spacer ring on the 2-4 servo. The plate was drilled to .060" for 2nd feed hole. I somehow think the Sonnax accum position/springs may have something to do with this. Also since the install there seems to be a "clunk noise" at low speeds on the 2-3 shift which is very smooth and soft??

Re: 4L60E Trans mods 2003 GMC

I found this picture of the 2nd Accumulator http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1228...53927695rCTTuE Did you install any of those big washers?

I don't have the SK instructions, only the HD2 kit.

Might be a good idea to call the tech support line at Transgo.

Re: 4L60E Trans mods 2003 GMC

No large washers in my kit. There is one one spacer that is placed between the 2nd servo holder and the servo cover to shorten the travel. Thanks for your help.

Question Re: 4L60E Trans mods 2003 GMC

Anyone else have any ideas? Since I have Sonnax accums I would like to hear from someone with experience resulting from this install. Thanks

Re: 4L60E Trans mods 2003 GMC

From my experience with shift kits, it is important to review everything that you did. I know that means dropping the valve body again (including getting new gaskets if they tear coming off).

With the Vette Servo, did it come with cut seals? Or 1 piece seals? Since you have a harsh 1-2 and weak 2-3 it could be the 2-4 servo and that can be checked with out removing the pan.

Did you have any issues when you were putting the kit in? All checkballs back in the right places? No gaskets covering up holes in the spacer plate?

How did the bore look in the 2nd accumulator? Did you install pinless accumulators?

Did you try calling the tech support hotline for Transgo?

Re: 4L60E Trans mods 2003 GMC

Went thru everything a number of times. Servo came with cut seals. The 2-3 shift is not soft but has a noise that was not there before. shifts quick and not harsh, just the noise(click?,clunk??) Possibly the higher pressure from the boost valve.Checkballs, gaskets and bore are all fine. Yes pinless accums were installed. The 1-2 accum has the 3 spring setup that TransGo approves. My original accum had the plastic piston with the green oval wound main spring and yellow secondary. Should I have stayed with the 2 spring setup?

Re: 4L60E Trans mods 2003 GMC

The Transgo Kit I used (again HD2 kit) had 2 new springs for the 2nd accumulator, orange one above the piston, blue one under the piston. Shift firmness was controlled by shims under the blue spring. The more shims, the firmer the shift.

If you have a pdf copy of the instructions, I would like to look at them to see what they are doing.

I know that you can order the orange and blue spring from the HD2 kit.

Did the kit add a spring below the piston, keeping the original 2 springs?
