Hi,
I hope someone can help with my problem. I have a 1997 Jimmy with 4.3L engine and auto transmission. At some point there was a fire underneath this vehicle and it melted the switch and it's plugs to the switch on the side of my transmission. This is a large switch that seems to mainly tell the electronics what gear I'm in. It also seems to function with the backup lights. Seems as if there is at least 10 or 11 wires to it. My problem is that I bought a Haynes book but it's wiring/schematic section is too generalized. I need a wiring schematic specific to my vehicle so I can be sure to rewire another switch correctly. I have a switch off a Blazer that seems to be the same, but as I said my plugs to the switch were melted and so I have to rewire my plugs. **** I tried to do this, but I have something miswired as my backup lights don't function right. Where can I obtain a schematic for the area in question? Thanks for any help. |

Re: trans switch wiring
Did you try Faxon Auto Literature? They are pretty helpful. Or you can look through wiring diagrams on Ebay they have quite a few for Chevy. If all else fails try the dealer. I beleive the web address for faxon's is http://www.faxonautolit.com .
