2000 Focus rear

Hi, about 2 years ago some high teenager hit my car in my driveway in the middle of the night. Everything got fixed on it but one thing, my rear end. For some odd reason the tires slant out like this / car \ . the top of the tires go in towards the car. Making my tires ware down even faster on the inside. I took it to mechanics and they can't tell me whats wrong. Any ideas? I can take pictures and post if no one knows.

Possibly the rear springs are broken. It's been an ongoing problem on Focus due to the cheap quality springs they use. Raise the rear wheels off the ground and inspect the coils. Monroe makes a "quick strut" assembly that includes a much better quality spring, new strut, and strut mounts. Very easy job to replace the entire assembly. Check the fronts in the same manner and get a 4 wheel alignment after repairs are complete.

How do I know if they are broken? I've been noticing when I drive and go over bumps that it always makes noises. thank you for the input

Raise the wheels off the ground and inspect the springs. Look at the coil springs, if you can't see any breaks, run your hand along the spring from the lower mount to the upper mount. If it's broken, it's very obvious, you'll see or feel it. Most common place to break is at the bottom where the spring sits in its mount in the strut. Usually you can see it, but sometimes you have to reach in and feel for the break. The spring is approximately 1/2" in diameter and both ends are square cut. When they break, it's a very jagged break.
