Transmission Temp Gauge Question

Is it possible to buy just the Transmission Temp Gauge for a 1999 Silverado 4.8 4x2? I don't want to buy the whole cluster just the Transmission temp gauge.

I found this one for a 2500 series truck but I still don't want the whole cluster.

I would just like to get the gauge.

I don't see an area in your cluster for the gauge. Odds are you'd have to buy a separate gauge and mount it. Alternatively it appears you'd have to purchase another cluster then wire a sending unit to it, providing it doesn't require you to invest in a new computer.

The gauge would go here . I have the factory wires behind the cluster.Only thing I need is the gauge.

You can try to find a dead IP and attempt a transplant, but the gauges are typically not sold separately. A stand-alone gauge would run maybe $50-$70....doubt you can beat that pricewise for even a dead IP, IF you can find one.

If you really want the clean look of the integral gauge, then you should save up for it and buy the IP. Remember, you'll have to look at it every time you get in the truck. If you just need a gauge, then the dash mount is good enough. The full-swing dials are more sensitive than the tiny 1/4-arc ones, but they're also about 10-20% more expensive. Digital LED dials (light-up arcs) are pretty but useless, and the true digital numeric LED displays are great but plain-jane. I'll shup now...hope this helps!

I believe you will need a cluster and then have the computer programed to send the signal to the gauge....

I would be VERY SURPRISED IF this worked by only installing a dash panel that had this temp gauge in it...

the temp sender in the transmission goes to the computer then a special output just for this gauge is sent to the analog dash gauge...

If you somehow tied into the wires that could/would go to another gauge it could damage the computer...

The dealerships do not repair dash panels...because its top secret whats in there...so you would have to go to a scrap yard and possibly luck out and find one...

All 1500 trucks 99 and up are wired for the temp gage. The 2500 IP is plug and play. The trans temp gage will work. No programming required for the temp gage.You will need to get the miles programed as the mileage is only kept in the cluster. You will need a 99 cluster as they are different and people who have installed a later cluster have had the air bag light stay on.
The gage has been successfully transplanted as well. The stepper motor will have to be soldered in.

Get on ebay and talk to some of the people selling and repairing clusters. They will add the gage to your cluster, sell you a cluster with the temp gage. They will program the miles for you and they will convert your cluster to a escalade cluster. They do it all.

And yes I have a 2500 cluster in my 05 1500, Plug and play. Trans temp gage works when cluster is plugged in.

I bought a Scan Gauge II and have 4 readings that I can change. One of the readings is TT for Trans Temp. We pull a horse trailer and just wanted to have as much of the info of how the truck is running as we could.

I know a couple of guys that have the scan gage 11 and like it real well. I just like the traditional gage in the cluster.

with the great amount of flexibility this would be the best way to go ....cost vs ability to display much more data..

I had one added to my 2005 silverado 1500 for $125.00 from www.aaellc.com
They also offer the standard, SS or Denali cluster with trans temp gauge for $275.00 with exchange, they will send out first and provide return shipping for your old cluster.
