well it depends on what body style you like... i personally like the crx... they are nice and light and the si is decently quick out of the box, the hatch also looks nice but is a lil bit heavier... its all a matter of taste.... but you can't go wrong with any of them

IMO try finding an SI ,either hatch or crx, and swap in a z6 or y8...if you can find car cheap you could swap the motor in realllllll cheap and stilll have money for parts.....

i have yet to run my car in the 1/4 mile yet, but i'm hoping for a mid to high 15 when i do run this spring, my car is mostly stock, cept for the crane cam, underdrive pulley, MSD ingnition, clutch and lightened flywheel... a stock si can run a mid to low 16 with decent driving, imo that not really fast... but i don't have a civic b/c its fast, i have it b/c its a damned fun car to drive looks really nice and is relativly quick, and decently reliable... its showing its age though... and i like gettng 30+ mpg...

of course im partial to crx's myself, but its only two seater, so if you like hauling friends around go with the civic, but if you dont have a system, you can fit two people under the glass no problem.

If your going to get a CRX then read this, if not then its of no use.

The HF was the lightest model, with the least power. If your planning a swap then get an HF. No heavy leaking sunroof to deal with. Then there was the DX, some came in an auto version, has medium amount of power. Then there was the SI, sunroof, 14" alloys, nicer seat, etc. has a little more power.

Si - 108hp
DX - 92hp
HF - 60ish

ZC engine - 130hp
b16 engine - 160hp

Si - 15.5-16.5
ZC - 14.5-15.5
b16 - 14.0-14.5

Those are estimates, many people have been able to get more out of their engine and some engines just perform beter then others. A b16 swap will require mount kits and axels = more money. I just did an DX to ZC swap and I love it. Its plenty of power and the ZC responds very well to boost so if you plan on that in the future then consider a ZC. Then there is the mini me swap, which has something to to do with a new vtec head being attached to the stock engine. Makes something like 115hp.

Wow, that was alot of typing. If your interested in more info on the CRX check out this site or the crx resource for tons of crx specific info or just pm me.

88 STD hatch = 1933 lbs.
88 CRX HF = 1819 lbs.

So, the HF is the lightest..not the STD. just to clarify. info courtesy of hondaswap.com
