1995 Buick Lesabre Limited Edition

I have a 1995 Buick Lesabre Limited Edition and need help on why my battery keeps draining. The alt is fine and have just put on a new ignition module which has plenty spark to the coil packs.I have checked for anything left on but nothing.I recharge the battery and it starts but over night it is dead. This battery is new.Any suggestions?

It sounds like a short in one of your circuits.

One way to check which circuit is responsible is using a test light.

Disconnect the negative lead from the battery.

Connect test light lead to the negative post on the battery, and using a jumper wire with alligator clips on each end connect the test light probe to the negative battery cable.

If the test light illuminates you have a circuit with a short in it.

For the following step make sure after you pull the fuse that all doors are closed and remove the under hood light bulb.

Now start pulling fuses one by one from the fuse blocks.

When the test light no longer is illuminated you have found the circuit responsible.

If after having pulled each fuse one at a time the light still did not go out you either have a short in a non fuse cicuit or you have a short in multiple circuits.

Do not use a test light, they read 12v and are not accurate enough for a draw test. Put an ammeter in between the negative cable nad post in series. Use the 10 amp scale. Normal draw for stereo memory and computer memory can be up to .07 ohms. ANything above .1 ohm is a drain. Then start pulling fuses and watch for the draw to drop. Check for a glove box trunk or hood light staying on.

You never said how old the battery is.Maybe you just have a dead cell & need to replace it even if it's new.Do a load test on the battery so you can rule that out
