2000 GT RPM surge
2000 GT, 121K.
On the way to work this morning I pulled up to a stop light and then engine surged from it's normal 700 rpm idle to up around 1200rpm. It happened intermittently on my 30 minute drive to work. When I pulled into the lot I noticed that it was starting to surge again so as a test I kept my foot off of the brake and the engine kept climbing to aroun 1500rpm before I started to brake. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Re: 2000 GT RPM surge
It sounds like high IAC counts. Remove and clean the idle air controller (IAC) located on the throttle body. Also, get the seat at the TB where it mounts. Carbon builds up over the years.
Use throttle body spray cleaner and not the old card cleaner.
