Re: Malibu 2003 No Start

Start with the basics, the vehicle needs spark, fuel , & air.
Spray a little starter fluid in throttle body, if the car fires then you have a fuel problem. If it does not start then spark problem. Check to see if there is spark at the plugs.
Had he been having any problems with the vehicle prior to this ?

And not meaning any offense but is there fuel in the tank, seen this happen before.

Is the anti-theft light coming on? If yes, wait for 15 minutes and try again. I hope it's as simple as that!

Re: Malibu 2003 No Start

I agree with discnik. You need to check for fuel and spark, and it could be out of gas, even if the guage doesn't read empty. I replace alot of gas gauge sending units in gm vehicles. I'm also pretty sure that if the antitheft system was acting up, the engine won't turn over. I'm not sure about the malibu, but I had a problem with a 95 Olds 88 last week, and the wires that run from the ignition switch, down the column, and eventually to the module were open. When the module can't read the resistance from the chip in the key or the resistance is not right it disables the starter relay and the fuel system on this particular vehicle.
