Fuid Maint.

I have just completed a fluid maint. cycle. Dif.,trans.brake, power steering and coolant. Al were flush and fill. Tran fluid was changed 30k ago and when changed was full of black suspended black particulate. Shifting into reverse now is much smoother, no jolting as before. Steering wheel squeal is also gone after about 2 weeks of driving. Rear brake fluid discolored acord. to mech. Hope this was money well spent. I think I will have the tran done on a yearly basis as fluid appeared "dirty" and these trannys seem to have reliability issues. Good Luck TO All

Re: Fuid Maint.

Interesting information.

Just out of curiosity, did you have this service performed at a dealership or independent? Also, would you mind sharing the amount you paid for this service?

Re: Fuid Maint.

HI SHOROD
ALL work was done by an INDEP.
Coolant-85
Trans-105
Diff-65(OUCH- I was told it was snyth oil WTF)
Pwr/Str-70
Brks-70
All was done using a machine for service of specific system. They are cool in that you can monitor input and output of of fluid levels down to ounces. Additives were added to trans/pwr-steering as per Fords remediation of the jerk/noise problems.

Thanks for that. Apparently the independents have access to the adapters to perform service on the sealed 5-speed auto trans in these now. That's probably well worth the $105.

Re: Fuid Maint.

interestingly enough, i just had my trannny fluid changed at 103k miles. it cost me $79 (no labor) bucks at the dealer becasue whoever changed the fluid at 60k miles did not use the different fluid specified in a TSB. Ever since, the the tranny shifts smoother into reverse. There used to be a slight thud/knock when it shifts to 2nd gear from a standstill (when you put a little foot into it), and it also performes much better, especialy on the highway.
