2000 GTP Lower Intake
Hey guys, today while workong on an unrelated issue, I saw a washed spot near my coolant tensioner elbow. I followed it up along side the block and saw a wet spot under my engine cover right near my valve cover. So, I've got the beginning stages of a blown lower intake gasket. I'm hoping I can safely drive my car untill summer before I need to replace the gaskets.
Just was wondering if anyone has used the ZZP port and polished Lower Intake Manifold. What are your guys' opinions on it? http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=235&catid=109 What do you guys think?

Re: 2000 GTP Lower Intake
Any internal coolant loss? Tim, I would not wait too long or replace the LIM gaskets well before the summer. Just a suggestion but use the revised GM aluminum framed gaskets.
From what I understand the ZZP P&P LIM is very popular and reasonably priced. Another good P&P LIM that you may want to check into is the one from Milzy Motorsports which I do have experience with. See link. Click here

Re: 2000 GTP Lower Intake
Thanks Bob, I will defenatly check into the Milzy LIM and ZZP. I thought I read on the ZZP one that it eleminates the PCV system. I'm not sure I want to do that. I just want a straight up ported and polished Lower Intake Manifold. Any advice?
I know I shouldn't wait too long. I did check my oil. Level looks fine, no chocolate milkshake on the inside of the valve covers. Its just so gosh darn cold. I dont have a heated garage, but if it gets too bad, I will tear it down with my friend in his garage. I'll just have to take him out for supper or something. In the meantime, I will start getting the parts gathered, and keep an eye on it. The coolant level is currently OK. I think the leak is so small that whatever it looses, it sucks coolant back in from the resivore when it cools down cause the radiator is always full.

I see ZZP has the metal ones for 55 bucks. I should just get them because I need an O2 sim also. Also, I think I am going to try out the Milzy port and polished LIM. Have you seen some of the things they offer over on Milzy? Its crazy! 3500 swap into a 3100/3400. GTP manual tranny conversions.

Re: 2000 GTP Lower Intake
Due to being an L67 engine. I only use FelPro on the L36. I used the GM aluminum framed in my GTP and the GM SC gasket. If it makes you feel any better.
![]() Yeah Milzy does some interesting things. Also, a great 3100/3400 mod source.

Re: 2000 GTP Lower Intake
Good to know! I guess I didnt even think about boost....
So, ZZP's LIM is "ported and Machined" for 100.00 with a 100.00 core ZZP has two options...... -top machining only -add porting and gasket match (+100.00) And Milzy's is 149.99 with 75.00 core and is "ported and polished" In their description they say that they port match and polish the LIM. So, ZZP's with port matching will run 200.00 and MMS will only run 149.99? What do you guys think? I'm thinking I'm going to give the MMS LIM a try. What HP gains could I expect?

Re: 2000 GTP Lower Intake
Update, changed oil today and took a few pictures of the leak for your viewing pleasure. BTW, the oil looked good, so if it is getting into the crankcase, its very minute.
Cant see much here due to lighting, but here's where its leaking. ![]() This picture you can see a little better, its pooling up around the injector ports. ![]() Here is where I initially noticed coolant pooling up. I first thought it was coming out my coolant bypass elbow. ![]() Just another angle of where its coming out. Again might not be able to see much due to lighting.

Re: 2000 GTP Lower Intake
You'll both be walking before long. Yours will blow out and run hot and hers will just seize up. Maybe it won't be the same day.

It is a good idea to get rid of the octane-robbing oil though. The tubular "baffle" below the PCV valve on L67 is an innocent but very important part between keeping your engine out of catastrophic life-ending knock at max power/max rpm/WOT.

Re: 2000 GTP Lower Intake
Nope, not yet. We've actually not even ordered parts yet.
I'm still trying to talk her into a ported and polished LIM from Milzy, but she's not into HP. I was also going to ask you guys it anyone knows the bolt/thread size of the 3100 and 3800 LIM bolts? I was hoping to buy a tap and tap out the bolt holes before I put threalocker on the new bolts when I put it all back together. Also I was listening to my car idle and think my SC coupler is going south. Now is probably a good time to replace that too isnt it?
