Unhappy new headers problem

ok I recently replaced my headers with new dc sports performance headers. heres the problem, when I go to acelerate from a stop I some times get no engine response. now when I say no engine response I mean I push the petal and the engine does nothing for like 3 seconds then all of a suden will shoot to 3000 rpm and take off. I have replaced the oxygen sensor and that didn't seam to help, the weard thing is it dosent hapen every time. now on ocasion the engine check light comes on after a few minuets of driving but resets after the cars off and dosent come on every time I drive. anybody have a clue why their is a delay in engine response and why the engine check light comes on. I have never had any problems with this car until this and the car only has 74000 miles on it

Re: new headers problem

NO i dont have the tools to check codes, and autozone cant check codes on any car under 1996 i dont think its the tps caus i havent mesed with that at all and i dont see any reasion why it would malfunction on a car that only has 74000 miles on it

Re: new headers problem

On a car as old as our checking them is easy. Pull the carpet up on the pass side under the dash, look in the little clear window on the ecu and count the blinks. there will be a pause between multiple codes if you have more than one, and a long pause to restart the sequence.

Re: new headers problem

my speedometer works fine. after a bit of research the most comon posible causes that i found were Loose or dirty connection, Short or open in circuit, Bad sensor. so i think it might be one of those

Re: new headers problem

All of which are on the backside of the cluster and/or IN the cluster. Also make sure your cable is hooked into the tranny but that wouldnt throw a code.
