Blower motor question

I have a 1999 Jimmy with 150,000 miles and lately the blower motor works when wants. Sometimes it might not work when i turn the truck on and sometimes it is does work. Also while driving it might turn on out of no where. If it is not working, i simply hit on top of the blower motor and it magically turns on. The first time it happened i pulled the plugs going to the motor and pluged them back in and it started working again. Everything is connected tight, no loose connections or anything. Kinda lost as to where i should go from here. Im here in metro detroit and its cold as hell so any help i really appreciate.

Re: Blower motor question

Ditto above-- that is how I test for a worn out blower motor- Tap on it or anything near it-- if it comes on- replace it-- I had a neighbor lady beat hers for over a year before she finally let me replace it- The brushes get worn and the armature is no longer centered enough to start- disturbing it centers it...

I went into the how to section of the forum but for some reason the pics didnt show up. Is it true that you have to pull of the fender to do the job?

Nope, remove the PCM and coolant reservoir, piece of cake!
