95 Lumina temp/no heat

I just got a 95, with 205,000 miles, yes runs real good, 1 owner, its 5 out with wild chill -20, the temp gauge is reading 100, this is after test driving it maybe 2 miles, and then drove it home 5 miles, it should have heated up more then that,I got warm air,but not hot, I got this car for My Father inlaw, Iam taking it to him sat.He likes hot heat start with Themmostst? and How hard is this ti get to?? 3.1 v6

Go to http://autozone.com/home.htm

At the top is "current vehicle" should have "add another vehicle"
Click on that. It will run you through a "year", "make", "model", "engine" selection. On the left of the page you'll see "vehicle info" . Choose that. On the next screen on the left choose "repair guide" . A list of areas will appear. Click on " Engine & Engine overhaul", scroll down and find , "thermostat". This will load the repair procedure for all engine sizes. Your's is listed.

They are not fun to do with the lower intake in the vehicle (typically get replaced when doing the lower intake gasket and the lower intake is removed, which is a lot easier) but they can be done!

The easiest way to do the thermostat on a GM 3.1 and 3.4 is to remove the exhaust crossover pipe. I think alldata says to remove the upper intake, but I've found it's faster to remove the crossover pipe.

I've done it without removing the crossover pipe, but It's a lot less stressful if you do. You'll probably spend the same amount of time either way, maybe less if you remove the crossover pipe.

I got it done and now have good heat and it runs right around 195.
took the air fiter box off, the thottlebody off( it needed cleaned real bad)
cruse control/thottle cables off.
I could get right in there.
total time 1-1/2 hour
dont hasitate like it did before, wow the thing had some goop in it.
