Unhappy 91 Lebaron Eletrical

I recently got in an accident with my Lebanon. The serpentine belt came off because the power steering pulley was damaged. I had that replaced, when I picked up the car it ran fine no problems. I tried to start it the next morning and it won't start.

I turned the key to "On" dash lights come up , the normal sounds like the motor is going to start. Turn the key all the way to "start" and all the power throughout the car goes out. I pulled the batter cable off to make sure there wasn't any damage. All of fuses are fine, no blown fuses, no damage.

Replacing the battery cable the cabin lights came on and the starter motor gives a little tick (it always does when the power is reconnected). Try the the key again same thing. I try removing the battery cable again this time the power does not return when I reattahced the cable on the post. doing this a couple times with the battery cable I either get power or no power.

I thought the battery was low due to a drain, I took it to AutoZone where they charged it for free. They said the battery is good it's only about four-five months old. I try again same thing. There was a bit of gunk on the posts and the cables so I clean them, still no luck.

Somewhere I read it could be a bad relay so I got a new starter relay again no luck. The starter is new less then a few months old. Before the accident I had no problems with starter or electrical. I have been trying to track down the problem for a while with no luck. I'm thinking a short but I don't understand why removing the battery cable would intermittently return power?? Are ther other breakers? I checked the fuses by the steering wheel and the ones by the battery I have no idea. Please help!

Re: 91 Lebaron Eletrical

It might have damaged the alternator when the belt came off. Pull it and have it tested for free and Checker/AutoZone.
