Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

I just received a call from the Service Department at my Buick Dealership. I have been leaking oil and it was diagnosed as an oil pan gasket. They recommended changing the crank case seal and serpentine belt while they had things apart. The shocker came with the estimate-Approximately $600. Is there that much labor involved changing out an oil pan gasket on a Rendevous?

Re: Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

Sounds like they may not be 100% sure if its the oil pan or the crank seal. If its coming from the passenger side I would start with the crank seal which will be the cheapest "leak" to fix. If it is still leaking than maybe tackle the oil pan.

Re: Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

sounds familiar, my buick dealership estimated about the same and called it an oil pan gasket. my mechanic said it is tough to get to so i elected to let it go but mine doesnt move off the full mark between changes. they also suggested they put a tracer dye in the next oil change. have not done it yet
