92 bonneville steering column dissassembly

Lost my keys for a 92 bonneville and not willing to pay a total of ~150 to get a locksmith to get the key tested and cut if I can figure out the lock myself, then only pay for the key. I bought the car and learned it has aftermarket keys, but I do know the resistance value. I would prefer not to drill out the lock in an attempt to hotwire it with a resistor soldered to the VATS wiring (I have no experience in hotwiring, but after reading some wiring diagrams it doesn't appear overly complex on this model). I would rather take apart the steering column in an attempt to read the ignition key cylinder but as well have no experience doing that other than watching a locksmith a couple years ago. Reading online, it appears there are some screws on behind the plastic covers on both sides of the steering column as well as above and blow it (probably torx).

My only concern is I do not have a tool I saw used, and need to know how complex it would be to do without it. It was a round disk with 3 or 4 knobs/pins that acted like a security lock key, to take off the inside of the wheel and gain access to the key cylinder. I would check but I don't have access to my car until later tomorrow as it is parked at work (which luckily is only a couple km away). Any help/advice on doing this would be appreciated, thanks.
