Question Start Problem and Code Question...

First, what do these codes mean I need to do?
25 - Inlet air temp. (IAT) out of range high
26 - TCC stuck on

Second, Can anyone think of a reason why after sitting for a weekend, the car starts, but when I put it into drive and press the gas it bucks and dies? I got it running by adding gas (even thou it was at least at 1/4 tank or more) and by adding dry gas. I was thinking water in the lines, but could it be a clogged fuel filter? Once it's running it stays running and drives fine....however the other day I noticed it idling rough when I was sitting in traffic...almost to stall but it never did.
Definitely has me nervous. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Re: Start Problem and Code Question...

Replace your ECTS. This effects idle controls and transmission items.

CHeck your IAT connection. Could be the wire is damaged going to the connector.

Make sure youve been changing the fluid and filter every 20K. If not..start ASAP

Re: Start Problem and Code Question...

I do change the fluids regularly...at least at decent intervals considering the car isnt driven very much each year. I'll look into the ects and the iat wires. Any advice for the way it's running transmission-wise?

Re: Start Problem and Code Question...

Would the IAT be the same thing as the "Standard Motor Products Air Charge Temperature Sensor" from advance auto?

Re: Start Problem and Code Question...

Thats the part, but its alot cheaper at autozone.

The ECTS controls many subsystems of the car including tranny operations from shift points, to torque converter lock up points. It rarely has its own code, and usually sets of other SES codes because of it. 10 bucks at autozone, to possibly fix your problem is well worth it

The sensor is the same, but its location and funtion is different. So no a new ECTS will not fic the IAT code, but might fix the tranny code

Re: Start Problem and Code Question...

Yeah...not too sure it's just the sensor throwing off the code...I went to start it last night after it sat for the weekend and reverse wouldn't work. After shifting around and stalling it a few times reverse bucked and grinded and eventually worked. Drove it today to work and it was back to "normal" Drove rough like usual, but didn't stall.

Re: Start Problem and Code Question...

The ECTS is used for many subsystems of the car including tranny operations. It is the first part that must be replaced before any other diagnosis is done. Especially since its a 10 dollar part, and 10 min procedure.

Once this is replaced, then move on from there, as some certain symptoms may change.
