thanks guys.
i use reference pics to help out. i did not take pics of how i made the rack. but i just bent some stainless tig/welding rod. got some 1/8 wide 1/16 thick wood and went at it.
i need to solder the stainless for it to hold better. glue just does not do it.
the tires are from some wire/low rider wheels i had from a few years back.
i wanted to go a different route for the suspension and this is what i got.
it surprised me that i could not use the stock suspension. it pulled it to far forward. i like to keep things centered.
thanks again guys.

Re: pan scrapper 66 vdub..

got some work done so here's a bit of an update. i like the 55's rear section, oval glass. so i decided to convert and also made hinges to "prop" the hood. air induction for dual carbs and better cooling of engine. 8)

made this as well. know what it is??

if you don't then here's a clue.

some interior work. had to narrow the front spare wheel well to clear narrowed beam.
and put some thin styrene to cover some spots. made rear seat grooves deeper and rear panels have lines to resemble some kind of paneling.

had to get some styrene rods to remake the roof rack. other idea failed.

smoothed out the back area some more, but had to add more putty. more on that later.

engine detail added. about 90% done.

i made the header out of 1/16 solder, had to solder/melt the ends where it came together to make it stay in place. then added the stinger muffler. added spark plug wires, there's a lot of blue in there. but that's how the cali bugs do it, color match.
i need to go to the LHS to see if i can get some really thin styrene rod to make my linkage. can't seem to make the metal rods stick together. oh well. i need to get moving on this thing. next will be the interior. thinking of a ivory interior w/blue piping on the seats. what do you guys think?
hope to spray the chassis black this weekend and do some more sanding.

My vote is that is a cool can. They used to put those on cars, fill em with ice so you would have A/C. At least it sure looks a lot like one. Interesting build, one to watch!

thanks for the comments guys. means a lot.

here i have a few of pics of some dry fitting. had to see what it will look like.

had to modify the engine bay a bit to fit the engine with carbs

and made these. anyone want to guess what they are? clue, w/out them it won't stop or activate the clutch.

Brake and clutch masters.
Nice scratching! I'm not too sure about the oval, but with a little finess.
coolness.

Re: pan scrapper 66 vdub..

Looks like a fun project.

Don't know where the stinger came from, but I'm guessing that it is turned aluminum? If so, a little bit of time with some superfine sandpaper (or a polishing stick) would remove the cutter marks, and bring it to a terrific, even, chrome like shine.
