Re: 2000 taurus/ man.hvac
Probably not, but as our moderator Rod, would say, why do you ask or why would you want to do that? Is there another problem? In theory, I guess you could do it repetitively without any consequence, though I would think if say it quickly is contacted on and off or jiggled, that wouldn't be good for either the fuel pump or the relay.
If you are doing it to relieve the fuel pressure in the fuel lines by running the engine till it's gone, I believe that's an often suggested method. |

Re: 2000 taurus/ man.hvac
Why do you ask or why would you want to do that? Also, how does that relate to the thread title? In this case, providing the engine that your Taurus has would be more relevant, but the thread title should provide a very short summary as to the thread's content. Removing a relay while under load isn't really much different from its normal operation. -Rod |

Re: 2000 taurus -Removing fuel pump relay
in trying to diagnose the HVAC blower relay, i mistakenly pulled the fuel pump relay, while under load, the vehicle shut down, i reinstalled relay, restarted, then the vehicle shut off after two minutes ,i imagine that i may have simulated a emergency fuel pump shut down ,as far as the car computer was concerned, just wondered if detaching/ and reattaching the battery , would reset the computer

Re: 2000 taurus -Removing fuel pump relay
As far as I know, the computer has no knowledge of the condition of the fuel pump and if it's working or not. You do know that you can test the blower resistor with the key just in run but without the engine running, right?
