1999 GMC JIMMY- see photos- DID SuperLube overfill my oil ??

i would appreciate input from anyone before i go back to super-lube about this leak. they changed my oil friday ( 3 days ) ago, and yesterday i noticed it looks as if it has been spewing oil from somewhere. my first clue was a burning smell, then the puddle where i had been parked.

i have driven about 38 miles since the change, and have been losing oil as you see in the pictures, yet when i check the oil level it appears that it is too full ( even after losing what looks like quite a bit to me). i also do not know the normal pressure range when idling around 1000 rpm, so i have a pic of the gauges as well. does the pressure look high.

i would appreciate an opinion. i want to know what this looks like to someone else before i go back to them and discuss the problem. they may see the problem and take care of it right away, or they may try to tell me they didnt do anything wrong, so i want to be prepared.

thanks... i am now going to see if i can attach photos to the next post. if not i do have them and i can email if someone would like to take a look.

michelle

Re: 1999 GMC JIMMY- see photos- DID SuperLube overfill my oil ??

Oil pressure looks fine, though showing a bit lower than I recall is normal (usually ~60 psi?).

Make sure you're wiping the oil level stick, then reinsert/remove it to check the oil level correctly. Engine should be off and allowed to sit for a few minutes. Truck should be parked level.

It's possible it was overfilled and is leaking out of the dipstick tube grommet seal. That or it could be from an oil filter that wasn't tightened correctly or is not the right size.

I'd take it back and point this out to them...the sooner the better. That's just sloppy work...even if they just spilled some on the engine, they should have cleaned it off.
