turn signal flasher clicking when there not even on?

so i have a 97 Gmc sierra with the 5.7L 4wd i recently bought the truck and the turn signals didnt work i found wat seemed to be a flasher in the door pocket so i installed it back into the fuse box and the directionals work but the flasher continues to tick when they r not on and there is no lights flashing anywhere on the truck i changed the flasher unit out with a different one from my 95 chevy and it made no differance on the abnormal habit i figure there must be a short or something causing this or does anybody no if something else that could cause this problem?

Multi-Function switch may be worn.... possibly your hazard switch?
