Where do you get your car references ?

Hi

I can browse google just like everybody else but I am doing my first car kit and I didn't find it so easy to find good pictures.
I mean pictures that will help me model every aspect of the car.
I have found Ebay motors so far to be the best along with autotrader.com/autotraderclassics.com for modern cars at least (1970 to present) which have most of my interest.
Can you recommend sites that offer lots of detailed walkthough pics of cars?
Also how do you find out all the colors that are/were available to a particular model when released?

Thanks again

Patrick

Usually it's Google.
If you want to find a specific car with a livery it had in a certain international level race try www.motorsports.com

Re: Where do you get your car references ?

It really depends on what you're chasing Patrick. Motorsport pics are pretty easy to come by. Road cars need a bit of creative thinking in terms of what you type in the search bar. For example I found a great set of body pics of the F40 the other day on seriouswheels.com It has an index by alpha & a STACK of stuff.

Re: Where do you get your car references ?

A great site for anyone who likes cars is http://www.ultimatecarpage.com. Wouter Melissen and his photographers do an outstanding job. The photos are bright, clear and sharp, so you can see details clearly. Most of the vehicles are "special interest" motorsports, classic and concept cars.

If you subscribe to the page, you get slide shows and you don't get so many ads. And you're emailed when they post a new car on the site.

Re: Where do you get your car references ?

Apart from the ones already listed, I find carclassic.com to be very useful. It is a trading site, so it is always changing, and they deal in classic road cars and historic motorsports. The always seem to have a wealth of rally cars (Group 4, Group B, some Group A), and as this is my main interest it suits me. The site is European, so this is their main focus.

As for modern day road cars, I try to find forums for that particular car. Most forums will have gallery sections were users will post pictures of their personal cars. I have found good forums for WRX, GT-R, EVO, etc.

Hope this helps.
Grant.

Another one I forgot when I posted my earlier link was supercars.net

I should've remembered it as my desktop is a great close-up pic of Colin's 95/96 Catalunya Impreza 555 at a Goodwood meet
