![]() My wife said that she heard a klunk while pulling into a parking space. The front passenger-side wheel is now slanted at a 45 degree angle to the pavement. More pics can be seen at http://photobucket.com/1998-Jimmy-Broken-Axle Please check out pics and let me know what you guys think happened and please provide instructions or links for repair. Thanks, SWUSA |

Re: 98 Jimmy 4WD, Broken front axle? see PICS
That would be a broken upper and/or lower ball joints. There is possibly damage done to that front CV axle too. Find a tow truck.

Re: 98 Jimmy 4WD, Broken front axle? see PICS
The previous reply is correct about the ball joints and obviously the tow. Jimmys and Blazers are notorious for bad ball joints even the earlier bodystyle. As a word of advice if you do not want this to happen againg possibly at highway speeds, pay the extra money to get both drivers side upper and lower ball joints as well as passenger side upper and lowers. You will also need a front end alignment now. Lasly give thanks to the Lord that this was at low speeds in a parking lot.

Thanks for replies.
The problem was a broken upper ball joint and it was easily repaired in the parking lot. |
