Hello I was hoping someone could help me. My 98 grand am wouldnt start "nothing". The key wouldn't even come out of the ignition switch. When I went to boost it all I did was touched the battery with the cables. The other end of the cables weren't even attached to anything and all the lights came on the dash and the alarm started to go off, but the car still wont turn over.
Now every time you try to open the door or start it, the car goes into full alarm. Is this something I can fix or is it something a garage will have to reset. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks JIM |

Re: 98 grand am alarm
Is the battery fully charged ?
Is all the connections clean and tight ? Also is the key still stuck ? Does the security light on the instrument cluster flash or stay on ??

Re: 98 grand am alarm
The connections are good. There is a light on top of the dash that is flashing all the time, never did before. And the passenger side signal light is flashing when the alarm goes off. Is this something a dealer will have to clear.

Re: 98 grand am alarm
Might be a passlock issue, is the key still stuck in the ignition ?
Try the passlock reset; Quote:
