Three Dakota questions from a new owner

I have just purchased a 1994 Dakota 3.9L V-6 and 5 speed transmisssion. The vehicle is in very good shape as it was owned by an elderly man all of these years. The truck has 160,070 miles on the clock. Now I have been told that these trucks with the 3.9l magnum are very tough engines. My first problem is a clicking sound coming from around the drivebelts and pulleys. Would this be the tensioner assy? Secondly at idle the truck has this high pitched buzz... Whats up with that? Finally the check engine light came on tonight and went off after I killed the engine. Other than these things the truck runs hard, does not smoke, no leaks, and doesn't use oil. Could somebody tell me have they had these problems and what would be the best way to fix them..

Pull the belts and spin idler puller,alternator,power steering pump water pump.
If you don't find anything. Add one belt at a time start and listen. Try to isolate which belt is causing the problem. The more you isolate it the more chance you are certain before you buy parts. Just run shortly don't overheat the engine.

Did a little research today and I have a friend that works for a local autoparts store who check the codes and found that it showed only one fault code a code 32 egr system failure. I think I have isolated the sound after changing the serpentine belt and I feel it is the idler pulley. I let a mechanic check out the buzz and he said it is from the fuel pump in the tank. He said it doesn't mean it is going bad or that its not that just some do it. Now what do I do to rectify this code 32??

I retired but I think for these years I used a vacuum gage and checked if I had vacuum to a solenoid valve for the EGR as I found vacuum lines plugged and broken. I then hooked to the hose for the EGR with the engine running at operating temperature. After gunning the engine appx. 2000 RPM this solenoid valve should allow vacuum to the EGR valve. Then I put my finger under the diaphram and made sure it would open with vacuum on it.
If you have an electrical problem I used a logic probe like this.

well i changed the idler pulley and oddly enough the noise got quieter but the noise remains?? I don't get it.

I changed an idler on my wifes car then the power steering pump started making noise. You just have to use a stethoscope and listen and try locating the noise.

i'm getting a 1992 dodge dakota with 318 magnum motor [carburated].i want to know which will better out of keeping the 318 or swap for a 360 magnum or hemi? either one i choose, i want to put a strret bore on it that can get me up to about 400+ h.p. i would like to get a supercharger or a miniblower for more power on top of the street bore. i'm mostly aiming at the miniblower because it costs about half of what a supercharger will cost me. i also want to know the power difference between the s.charger and the blower and which one i should go with. thx for reading my post. god bless!

are you sure your not hearing the power sterring if so thats prety natrual. try this start it and turn your wheels both way's and see if it gets worse?

I think what you are hearing is the power steering which does make a whinning noise.
