Re: Extras for Kits

Hello Juian,
I don't have any suggestion for the PE etc but you can't go wrong with any IWATA airbrush. Other choices are Badger or Paasche which are also very good airbrushes. I will suggest you to stay away from Aztek airbrushes as i have had bad experience with them.
I have also used Haarder & Steenback and found them very good.
Just buy one which have spares readily available.
Hope this helps.

Re: Extras for Kits

i already own a iwata hi-line ch but looking for one with a bigger nozzle since the hi-line is a .3 and has no other options to change it to maybe a .5
the thing is that watching most builds in this forum makes me want to start on a project.
hoping to get my new home soon for my space

Thanks for ur help

Re: Extras for Kits

I have the Revell Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and Ferrari F430 Coupe and have started the F430 with the body primed.
I have setup my workbench in the balcony of my 3 room apartment(wife doesn't allow anything inside because of our toddler) and currently it's not accesible because of the cold although it is closed but badly isolated. Therefore i am on hold with all my painting till the weather gets a bit better.

About the airbrush you may consider the Iwata Revolution or Eclipse series as i believe they come with a .5 nozzle. I myself have the Iwata Eclipse BCS and BS but can't comment how they are as i have not used them yet. Have no idea about the Tamiya as have never seen it let alone used it.

Re: Extras for Kits

Hi,
I found these PE parts they interesting you:

Revell F1 2005 = http://www.hlj.com/product/S27FP2494
Revell F1 Mclaren (kimi) = http://www.hlj.com/product/S27FP2493
Revell Ferrari F430 Coupe = http://www.hlj.com/product/S27FP2495 Here i'm not 100% shore, please check yourself if it is the right PE part. Studio 27 makes 2 or 3 diferent PE parts for Ferrari F 430!
Tamiya Lancer Evo IV ralliart = http://www.hlj.com/product/SMSSM3010

Revell Audi R8 = no information
Revell Ferrari 612 Scaglietti = no information

For the last two models, i'm shore it will be somebody here who will help you!
Good luck!

Re: Extras for Kits

If you meen this :

is something i want to buy two this year!
Tamiya recomands this AB for Car modeling :" Featuring a 0.5mm nozzle, this airbrush can be used to apply a wide range of paints, from acrylic to lacquer to enamel, and is especially suited for creating the glossy finish of car models."

Re: Extras for Kits

I forgot to write the Tamiya ITEM nr. Item No:74523
Tamiya offers one almost identical AB ITEM no. 74510 and it is with a finer nozzle - 0,3 mm , so check if you get the right one!
Regarding Mr. Paint booth - yes, if you want to work fast and well, you need it. I don't own something like this, maybe in the future. I read about people who are drying the painted parts or car bodys in a food dehydrater!

Yeah, food dehydrator speed up the drying process so you can polish the body sooner than normal. I'm sure someone else will chime in to add more information.

Re: Extras for Kits

Yes Tibi there are 2 tamiya AB one is 0.3 and the other 0.5. for fine detail i'd use the iwata hi-line but for bodies maybe i'd need a 0.5

anyone seen a good practical dehydrator in any web page?

Re: Extras for Kits

For the R8, I'd suggest some carbon fiber decals to set off the engine bay.

Re: Extras for Kits

The Tamiya HG is a great AB for its price, I would suggest also buying a larger paint cup for it though, the original 15cc cup tends not to be enough in certain applications. Tamiya sells transparent paint cups in sizes of 17 and 40 ccs. 17cc is #74511 and the 40cc is #74520. I now use transparent cups on all my ab's, they let you know if there is enough paint remaining in the cup... thus preventing spitting when the paint runs out.
Tamiya's and Gunze's air brushes are made by Iwata, so they are good quality items.
Personally, I find the atomization on the HG a little big (droplets are 'large'), but with a little practice this AB has served me very well...

HTH,
Steve
