No customs, dragsters, NASCAR, non FIA bikes will be allowed. This is a road racing-sportscar theme show. Classes are as follows: 1/43rd Class 1 racecars/F1/Indy/FIA Rally/Trans AM ect. We will also have a photo display and table for resin model manufacture new releases. I have several companies sending information for the show. Re: Ferrari Expo 2009 model contest -literature/art show
Only a little over 2 months away. We already have several great modelers planning on making the trip. Kaz Shibuyas(seattle43) from Seattle will be coming. Steve Yeun from cifesystem and Ramon Garcia from Mexico City
along with Mike Klessig(scale auto) and Spike from this site are also all planning on coming. Many local car modelers from Chicago and the nearby states are also coming. We have M&M hobbies bringing a boatload of resin kits from Studio27, Feeling 43rd, Makeup, Bosica, ect... I will have a table set up with new resin model kits and hand builts. I will have new kits from Air Trax in 1/24th(including a new Alfa and Ferrari transkit). Minidelta is sending in the latest kits(1/12th Ferrari P3 Spa 1966 kit and Ferrari 500TRC 1/43rd built). CMA models is sending the new SIATA 1/43rd handbuilts for sale. I will also have the new Hiro and Studio 27 kits for sale. One or two suprise kits also will be on hand. This show is about quality. We always have a few vintage Ferrari's/Maserati's on display along with many new Ferrari's and Maserati's. Last year we had a Porsche Abarth, 288 GTO, 275GTS and Ferrari 250LWB California on display. This is a sportscar/sportscar racing and F1 show, not just a Ferrari show. I will have information on a future Scale Designs Ferrari 1/24th scale Trans-kit/body at the Expo this year. I hope it will be available later this year. Hope alot of you from North America can make it. Re: Ferrari Expo 2009 model contest -literature/art show
If it is a bright sunny day you will see even more Ferrari's as the Chicago area has hundreds of them. The owners will bring them if the weather is good. I have a price on the BMW F1.08 Studio 27. Will PM you. From what I have heard about models people are bringing, this will be biggest and best Ferrari Expo model contest so far. It may not be as big as an NNL or GSL, but the quality is top notch. The Steve Yuen's 1/24th Ferrari Enzo, Ramon Garcia's 1/24th Ferrari 550M and Kaz Shibuyas's 1/43rd Porsche 718 could have won at any model car show!! Only bring your best if you
want to win an award. You can also just display if you dont want to enter. Its all about having fun making high quality sportscar/racing models in all scales. Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2009 model contest-Chicago April 25th 2009 |

For 2010 we will give the "best of show winner" a Model Factory Hiro kit!! That will be starting next year, the 5th anniversary of the model contest and 29th anniversary of the Ferrari Expo literature and art show. The show is run my the Ferrari Club of America. Re: Ferrari Expo 2009 model contest -literature/art show
Tom,
For those of us that can't attend, would you consider posting some photo's of the event? Maybe even a blog of the awards event so we can feel connected virtually. I've seen people do blogs at hobby trade shows to good effect. I, and I'm sure others, would love to attend if it were only a bit closer. Good luck with the weather! |
