Air bag light on dash

I have a 2001 chevy venture and the air bag light is on.At first the drawer under the passenger seat was stuffed and light would go off if you move it. Any suggestions to make light go away and stay away.

Have a look under the back of the passenger seat. That area often attracts discarded toys etc. There is some wiring under there that can be disturbed. For awhile my light would come on depending on whether I was going up hill or down Cleaning that area has kept the light off, so far.

Re: Air bag light on dash

I see 4 wires. 2 to the left side 2 to the right. it came on when wife was sitting in seat getting headphones out of drawer. I took out the drawer and see the wires are in the clips. is there any chance of me damaging something or air bags going off if I play around with the wires.

I mostly just moved things away from the area. I found a much older thread (on this forum?? - try search here or google) that talked about just clearing out that area. I think I 'wiggled' those leads a little ;-) but nothing more. Could that area get wet in your 'normal' use. From memory there may have been some issues with the wiring under the carpet. I wouldn't 'fiddle' with the ignition on. I didn't do anymore than what might happen if 'things' were pushed under the back of the seat.

I've had the same issue a couple of times with my 2000 Venture. Just move the wires around a bit under the passenger seat, fixes it every time, at least for 6 months or so. I always to it with the ignition off and key removed just in case.

I have had the same issue a few times with my van as well. It turned out that the connecter was just loose. Wiggle that around and make sure it is tightly in place and you should be good.
