Aligning shifter indicator
Have a 1999 Taurus and the automatic shifter control dosn't line up correctly with the clear window. When the shifter itself is in park the window reads reverse. As you move the shifter it continues to read one mark off. The shifter itself appears to work OK, when it moves all the way to the left it is in park. How do I line the two up to read the same??

Re: Aligning shifter indicator
I had the same issue with my 98 Taurus. There is an adjuster in the steering column up near the dash. It has a dial adjuster that adjusts the length of a small cable that goes to the shift indicator. Mine had broken and I used super glue to fix the adjuster. This may have happened to yours. But you do have to take the shrouding from around the steering column to get to it if I recall. Good luck.

Re: Aligning shifter indicator
It also adjusts at the range sensor (neutral safety switch). Under the hood, right back, straight down on top of the tranny (down from the master cylinder). You can see where the cable connects.
