MFH 1/24th AC Cobra.
Well I’ve reached the end of another difficult MFH build. The parts fit looked to be pretty good to start with but as with the last three MFH kits, I’ve had wheelbase, ride height and general fit problems.
I wanted to make this car look like it had been used so everything has had some weathering and as cellulose paint finishes on mid-sixties race cars never were that good I didn’t want a deep shine on the bodywork and just used a few coats of Zero clear. I’m now looking for a new project maybe something other than MFH this time perhaps Profile 24, ABC or Le mans minatures but has anyone ever built a multimedia kit that has ticked most or possibly all of the boxes? From my building experience there’s only been one, the Climax, now ironically MFH 1/24th Aston martin DB4 GT Zagato. Oh for more Climax kits! Cheers, Lee ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Fantastic build! You seem to have solved the fitting problems in an excellent way.

Thanks Mikhail, you can find all the reference photos you will need on the web; try the Shelby America museum site for starters.

Lee hey man that's one fab build and when you look at what you have done it is absolutely fabulous work Congrats on a terific Cobra. Boy when you take a close look at the exhaust area that's one giant step to avoid being burnt by a hot pipe ain't it.

Superb job, I love the subtle weathering. The exhausts are particularly good.

Re: MFH 1/24th AC Cobra.
Gorgeous build! Can't tell it had any fit problems.
I doubt you'll find any other company/multimedia model that's going to be any better; you are living what it's like to build a modern-day multimedia kit. They're not intended to be Tamiya "shake and bake" kinds of kits. Though I do agree it's annoying when you pay a ton of $$ for a kit and realize you have to do any amount of re-engineering. There's some anti-MFH sentiment on Ferrarichat due to the otherwise gorgeous MFH F40's built by Alex having shape issues; the front end looks like it points skyward. I didn't notice it upon first seeing the built models, but looking at photos of the real car it's clear that MFH botched the front end...those F40's look like the hand of God is providing downforce on the front end, whereas the MFH front end looks like it would send the car flying at anything above 120MPH. I'm not convinced any manufacturer has nailed the front end design of the F40. They all seem to have issues.

Re: MFH 1/24th AC Cobra.
Great looking build. You should be very proud. I dont have the Hiro Cobra kits because I already had the cars from other manufactures. I like the slightly weathered look you captured.
Quote:
I think you are right, all the multimedia kits have fit issues. Its just the nature of the beast. The Climax kits I have are no better than Hiro, infact most are worse(64 GTO). On the F40, I think Tamiya did good on the street version. Hiro put the attachment points by the front of the door on their F40 GTE kits at the wrong angle so the front end sits to high. Its not that hard to fix, but it has to be done before painting. The other problem is will the front fit over the radiator framing without sitting to high. I have to build start my FCI F40GTE for Ferrari Expo 2010(it takes me that long), so I will find out soon enough. Re: MFH 1/24th AC Cobra.
That's a beautiful model you have completed Lee. I think you have captured the look and feel of the car for it's time period. As for kit manufactures..there are no perfect kits. There are only great modelers that make them look perfect.

DAMN! for two reasons, first: of course the great attention to detail and the second: the price on these kits. these are the ones that you hope you don't screw up on.
great work here.
