gmc serria 4x4 problems

My service four wheel drive light is on.When you start the truck the lights to the four wheel drive swith light up and then go off.The four whell drive switch does not light up to show it's in four wheel drive but it is. When you push the 4x4 button it does nothing.

I had my problem checked out and it was the 4x4 transfer case motor. Hope this helps someyone else out.

Re: gmc serria 4x4 problems

I'm having the same problem. How much did it cost to fix?? Is the problem something I can repair myself?

Thanks

Re: gmc serria 4x4 problems

I got a used part from a junck yard but you can get a new one for $100 from amizon.com this was the cheapest place i found. The gm dealer wonts $600 for this part. Be surse the np code and all the numbers match beacuse electric shift and manual lock in uses a different motor.this code is lociated in the glove box or on the door. There is only three bolts that hold this on and a wire plug its not hard to replace.
