Question to tease your knowledge

I just bought a 05 Sierra 4X4 Nevada Edition. Good to see fellow enthusiasts here I was just wondering, ive done some searching and i cant find any info on what is different from a nevada edition from the base model, anyone know?? More importantly, I bought it from Quebec and I am trying to figure out how to switch the language. I was also wondering if anyone could help me troubleshoot an noise issue that is apparent. When it shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd I heard a remote clunk coming from under neath the truck. It only happens on those gears thankfully. It happens simultaneously when it shifts, its not the actual shift that clunks it is something to do with it though. By the way it is an automatic tranny. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Was doing some research on the noise... wondering if it could be a solenoid circuit that's damaged, a throttle positioning sensor or wiring harness. This is my first truck and I'm at a loss

The clunk is in the transfer case, very common cause by a stack of drive train lash, light throttle 2-3 upshift or 3-2 downshift, this assumes that this is what you are describing, owners manual will provide the other info.

thank you very much for your input, unfortunately my owners manual is in French. Does that sound have any adverse affects on the vehicle itself or is it just more of a nuisance sound? If i wanted it fixed, would that be covered under a powertrain warranty?

Could you please elaborate what drive train lash is?

Machining tolerances, slight gear play in the trans and transfercase allow some free play in the engagement/disengagement process, common on almost all the 4wd 4l60e drivetrains. I've had 3 4wd GM trucks that experienced this and have driven others, it is annoying.

I see, thanks... ive been doing some research and it would seem that this noise should not cause any other issues. Unfortunately, from what I've read it states that it could be more than 1 part needing to be replaced and thus expensive for just an annoyance... would you care to comment?

There is no permanent fix for this that I know of, drive it.
