What is the best place to lift the body off of the frame on my 1972 Beetle?

I am ready to seperate the body from the frame and built a set of sturdy saw horses to place it on. But i am curious as to how to get the body in the air. specifically "can I place a strap through the door openings or will it cause damage to the vehicle?" or should I "remove the fenders and strap around the body on both ends through the wheel wells?"

Any suggestions? I plan to build a small steel gantry on wheels if that helps.

Once you get all the bolts, wires, heater hoses, steering, brake res hose, struts, and associated stuff disconnected and/or removed the body will lift off cleanly.

Most people get a few hefty friends and just lift it off by hand. 4 good sized adults can easily pick up the body, it's relatively light. Once it's in the air have someone roll the chassis out from underneath and slide the saw horses underneath.

Or you can walk the body sideways to the horses

If you can't get help, 2 2X4s through the door openings and a couple of chain-falls/come-alongs will work also.

You want to ensure a straight up lift, and not binding across the roof.
